Limone sul Garda Italy

Despite its well-known lemon groves – which is what the town’s name suggests in Italian – Limone sul Garda’s name probably comes from the ancient word “lemos” (elm) or from the Latin “limes”, meaning boundary, referring to the border between the communes of Brescia and the Bishopric of Trento. From 1863 to 1905 the town was officially known as Limone San Giovanni.
